BURKE, SD – Applications for the Billie Sutton Leadership Institute programs officially open today for both the third class of "Sutton Leaders" and the inaugural "Rural POWER" program.
In 2019, Billie Sutton– former state senator and candidate for governor of South Dakota– launched the non-partisan Sutton Leadership Institute dedicated to inspiring and preparing the next generation of leaders to build a stronger South Dakota and more vibrant communities and workplaces through service to others.
Since its launch, the Sutton Leadership Institute has trained and mentored over two dozen talented next-generation leaders from across the state who have given back to their communities through service projects. This year, a leadership development initiative specific to rural South Dakota has been added to the program.
Sutton Leadership Institute founder Billie Sutton encourages people interested in the "Sutton Leaders" or "Rural POWER" program to apply. Sutton said:
“If you're a South Dakotan who cares about your community and you're ready to find more impactful ways to give back, this leadership development opportunity is for you."
"The Sutton Leadership Institute is designed to harness the talent of passionate and dedicated leaders and provide them opportunities to grow as they help their communities–– both big and small–– thrive."
"Mentorship and training were essential to my development as a leader, and we are excited to work with another incredible group of emerging leaders in South Dakota who will help shape our state's future."
Applications for both free Sutton Leadership Institute programs are open from now until Saturday, May 1, 2021.
